Grüss type inequalities for positive linear maps on \(C^*\)-algebras

Abstract: Let mathcalA and mathcalB be two unital C∗-algebras and let for CinmathcalA,GammaC=gammainmathbbC:|C−gammaI|=infalphainmathbbC|C−alphaI|. We prove that if Phi:mathcalAlongrightarrowmathcalB is a unital positive linear map, then egin{eqnarray*} ig|Phi(AB)-Phi(A)Phi(B)ig| leq ig|Phi(|A^*-zeta I|^2)ig|^frac{1}{2} ig[Phi(|B-xi I|^2)ig]^frac{1}{2} end{eqnarray*} for all A,BinmathcalA,zetainGammaA and xiinGammaB.\ In addition, we show that if (mathcalA,au) is a noncommutative probability space and TinmathcalA is a density operator, then egin{eqnarray*} ig| au(TAB)- au(TA) au(TB)ig|leq |A-zeta I|_p|B-xi I|_q|T|_r (p,qgeq 4, rgeq 2) end{eqnarray*} and egin{eqnarray*} ig| au(TAB)- au(TA) au(TB)ig|leq |A-zeta I|_p|B-xi I|_q|T| (p,qgeq 2) end{eqnarray*} for every A,BinmathcalA and zetainGammaA,xiinGammaB. Our results generalize the corresponding results for matrices to operators on spaces of arbitrary dimension.
