\(P\)-capacity vs surface-area

Abstract: This paper is devoted to exploring the relationship between the [1,n)ip-capacity and the surface-area in mathbbRnge2 which especially shows: if OmegasubsetmathbbRn is a convex, compact, smooth set with its interior Omegacircot=emptyset and the mean curvature H(partialOmega,cdot)>0 of its boundary partialOmega then left(frac{n(p-1)}{p(n-1)} ight)^{p-1}lefrac{left(frac{hbox{cap}_p(Omega)}{ig(frac{p-1}{n-p}ig)^{1-p}sigma_{n-1}} ight)}{left(frac{hbox{area}(partialOmega)}{sigma_{n-1}} ight)^frac{n-p}{n-1}}leleft(sqrt[n-1]{int_{partialOmega}ig(H(partialOmega,cdot)ig)^{n-1}frac{dsigma(cdot)}{sigma_{n-1}}} ight)^{p-1}quadforallquad pin (1,n) whose limits imply 1=frac{cap_1(Omega)}{hbox{area}(partialOmega)} & int_{partialOmega}ig(H(partialOmega,cdot)ig)^{n-1}frac{dsigma(cdot)}{sigma_{n-1}}ge 1, thereby not only discovering that the new best known constant is roughly half as far from the one conjectured by P'olya-Szeg"o in cite[(2)]{P} but also extending the P'olya-Szeg"o inequality in cite[(5)]{P}, with both the conjecture and the inequality being stated for the electrostatic capacity of a convex solid in mathbbR3.

This paper is concerned with the study of relationships between the \(p\)-capacity, \(p\in [1,n)\), and the surface area through the Lebesgue volume and the Wilmore energy in \({\mathbb R}^n\). More precisely, given a convex compact subset in \({\mathbb R}^n\) with area\((\partial\Omega)>0\), then \[ \frac{n(p-1)}{p(n-1)}\left( \frac{\left(\frac{\mathrm{area}(\partial\Omega)}{\sigma_{n-1}}\right)^{\frac{1}{n-1}}}{\left( \frac{\mathrm{cap}_p(\Omega)}{\left(\frac{p-1}{n-p}\right)^{1-p}\sigma_{n-1}} \right)^{\frac{1}{n-p}}} \right)^{\frac{n-p}{p-1}}+ \frac{n-p}{p(n-1)}\left( \frac{\left(\frac{\mathrm{vol}(\Omega)}{n^{-1}\sigma_{n-1}}\right)^{\frac{1}{n}}}{\left( \frac{\mathrm{area}(\partial\Omega)}{\sigma_{n-1}} \right)^{\frac{1}{n-1}}} \right)^{n}\leq 1 \] Further discussions regarding the equality case are also presented.
