Abstract: Let n be a positive integer, let be a random vector in mathbbRn with bounded entries, and let (heta1,dots,hetan) be a vector in mathbbRn. We show that the subgaussian behavior of the random variable heta1X1+dots+hetanXn is essentially determined by the subgaussian behavior of the random variables sumiinHhetaiXi where H is a random subset of 1,dots,n.
