Abstract: Let mathbfG be a connected reductive group defined over a locally compact non-archimedean field F, let mathbfP be a parabolic subgroup with Levi mathbfM and compatible with a pro-p Iwahori subgroup of G:=mathbfG(F). Let R be a commutative unital ring. We introduce the parabolic pro-p Iwahori--Hecke R-algebra mathcalHR(P) of P:=mathbfP(F) and construct two R-algebra morphisms ThetaMPcolonmathcalHR(P)omathcalHR(M) and XiGPcolonmathcalHR(P)omathcalHR(G) into the pro-p Iwahori--Hecke R-algebra of M:=mathbfM(F) and G, respectively. We prove that the resulting functor Mod-mathcalHR(M)o Mod-mathcalHR(G) from the category of right mathcalHR(M)-modules to the category of right mathcalHR(G)-modules (obtained by pulling back via ThetaMP and extension of scalars along XiGP) coincides with the parabolic induction due to Ollivier--Vign'eras. The maps ThetaMP and XiGP factor through a common subalgebra mathcalHR(M,G) of mathcalHR(G) which is very similar to mathcalHR(M). Studying these algebras mathcalHR(M,G) for varying (M,G) we prove a transitivity property for tensor products. As an application we give a new proof of the transitivity of parabolic induction.
