Abstract: Let Phi1,Phi2 and Phi3 be Young functions and let LPhi1(mathbbR), LPhi2(mathbbR) and LPhi3(mathbbR) be the corresponding Orlicz spaces. We say that a function m(xi,eta) defined on mathbbRimesmathbbR is a bilinear multiplier of type (Phi1,Phi2,Phi3) if [ B_m(f,g)(x)=int_mathbb{R} int_mathbb{R} hat{f}(xi) hat{g}(eta)m(xi,eta)e^{2pi i (xi+eta) x}dxi deta ] defines a bounded bilinear operator from LPhi1(mathbbR)imesLPhi2(mathbbR) to LPhi3(mathbbR). We denote by BM(Phi1,Phi2,Phi3)(mathbbR) the space of all bilinear multipliers of type (Phi1,Phi2,Phi3) and investigate some properties of such a class. Under some conditions on the triple (Phi1,Phi2,Phi3) we give some examples of bilinear multipliers of type (Phi1,Phi2,Phi3). We will focus on the case m(xi,eta)=M(xi−eta) and get necessary conditions on (Phi1,Phi2,Phi3) to get non-trivial multipliers in this class. In particular we recover some of the the known results for Lebesgue spaces.
