Abstract: We show that, for each , there exists a smooth Riemannian metric on a punctured sphere for which the associated length metric extends to a length metric of with the following properties: the metric sphere is Ahlfors -regular and linearly locally contractible but there is no quasiconformal homeomorphism between and the standard Euclidean sphere .
