Abstract: Let M be a compact two-dimensional manifold and, finCinfty(M,mathbbR) be a Morse function, and Gammaf be its Kronrod-Reeb graph. Denote by mathcalOf=fcirchmidhinmathcalD the orbit of f with respect to the natural right action of the group of diffeomorphisms mathcalD on Cinfty(M,mathbbR), and by mathcalS(f)=hinmathcalDmidfcirch=f the corresponding stabilizer of this function. It is easy to show that each hinmathcalS(f) induces a homeomorphism of Gammaf. Let also mathcalDmathrmid(M) be the identity path component of mathcalD(M), mathcalS′(f)=mathcalS(f)capmathcalDmathrmid(M) be group of diffeomorphisms of M preserving f and isotopic to identity map, and Gf be the group of homeomorphisms of the graph Gammaf induced by diffeomorphisms belonging to mathcalS′(f). This group is one of the key ingredients for calculating the homotopy type of the orbit mathcalOf. Recently the authors described the structure of groups Gf for Morse functions on all orientable surfaces distinct from 2-torus T2 and 2-sphere S2. The present paper is devoted to the case M=S2. In this situation Gammaf is always a tree, and therefore all elements of the group Gf have a common fixed subtree mathrmFix(Gf), which may even consist of a unique vertex. Our main result calculates the groups Gf for all Morse functions f:S2omathbbR whose fixed subtree mathrmFix(Gf) consists of more than one point.
