Abstract: We give a necessary and sufficient condition for $k$-step nilmanifolds associated with graphs $(kgeq3)$ to admit Anosov automorphisms. We also prove nonexistence of Anosov automorphisms on certain classes of 2-step and 3-step nilmanifolds.
