Recall that a commutative ring R with identity is called N-ring if for every ideal I of R there exists a unitary noetherian overring T of R such that \(IT\cap R=I.\) In the first part the author extends the characterization of idempotent filters of ideals of commutative noetherian rings to N-rings and shows that N-rings are semi-noetherian and stable (in the torsion-theoretical sense). The second paragraph is devoted to Krull and Gabriel dimensions of N-rings and the last one studies the properties of subrings fixed by finite automorphism groups of R of orders invertible in R.
