Abstract: Surprisingly, skew derivations rather than ordinary derivations are more basic (important) object in study of the Grassmann algebras. Let Ln=Klfloorx1,...,xnfloor be the Grassmann algebra over a commutative ring K with 1/2inK, and d be a skew K-derivation of Ln. It is proved that d is a unique sum d=dev+dod of an even and odd skew derivation. Explicit formulae are given for dev and dod via the elements d(x1),...,d(xn). It is proved that the set of all even skew derivations of Ln coincides with the set of all the inner skew derivations. Similar results are proved for derivations of Ln. In particular, DerK(Ln) is a faithful but not simple AutK(Ln)-module (where K is reduced and ngeq2). All differential and skew differential ideals of Ln are found. It is proved that the set of generic normal elements of Ln that are not units forms a single AutK(Ln)-orbit (namely, AutK(Ln)x1) if n is even and two orbits (namely, AutK(Ln)x1 and AutK(Ln)(x1+x2...xn)) if n is odd.
