q-discriminants and vertex operators

The author gives a realization of discriminants, using vertex operators coming from infinite-dimensional Lie algebras and their quantum deformations as well as Yangian deformations. In this way, the discriminants appear as matrix coefficients of a certain product of vertex operators.
