Abstract: Let be a locally compact unimodular group, let ,let and assume that the Fourier multiplier associated with is bounded on the noncommutative -space .Then is separating (that is,for any ) if and only if thereexists and a continuouscharacter such that locally almost everywhere. This provides a characterization of isometricFourier multipliers on , when . Next, let be a -finite measure space, let and assume that the Schur multiplier associated with is bounded on the Schatten space . We prove that this multiplier is separating if and only if there exist a constant and two unitaries such that a.e. on This provides acharacterization of isometric Schur multiplierson , when .
