Abstract: Let denote the moduli space of smooth, genus curves with marked points. Let denote the moduli space of -dimensional, principally polarized abelian varieties. Let and . If is a nonconstant holomorphic map then and is the classical period mapping, assigning to a Riemann surface its Jacobian.
