Abstract: Random matrix models have been extensively studied in mathematical physics and have proven useful in combinatorics. In this review paper we introduce a generalization of these models to a class of tensor models. As the topology and combinatorics of these tensor models are much more complex than those of matrix models, a first quantum field theoretical (QFT) proposition for simplifying them was recently proposed in R. Gurau (2011). Here, we review a different QFT simplification.
