Abstract: Let be a split (minimal) Kac-Moody group over or with maximal torus , and let be a Cartan-Chevalley involution of , twisted by complex conjugation, and satisfying that . Furthermore, let be the subgroup fixed by , and . Let . In this note, we show resp. revisit that admits a (refined) Iwasawa decompositions . We also show that if is of non-spherical type, then it never admits a polar decomposition nor a Cartan decompositions . This has implications for the geometrical structure of the Kac-Moody symmetric space .
