Strict singularity of Volterra type operators on Hardy spaces

Abstract: In this paper, we first characterize the boundedness and compactness of Volterra type operator

S_{g} f (z) = i n t_{0}^{z} f^{'} (z e t a) g (z e t a) d z e t a, z i n m a t h b b D,

defined on Hardy spaces

H^{p},, 0 < p < i n f t y

. The spectrum of

S_{g}

is also obtained. Then we prove that

S_{g}

fixes an isomorphic copy of

e l l^{p}

and an isomorphic copy of

e l l^{2}

if the operator

S_{g}

is not compact on

H^{p} (1 l e q p < i n f t y)

. In particular, this implies that the strict singularity of the operator

S_{g}

coincides with the compactness of the operator

S_{g}

on

H^{p}

. At last, we post an open question for further study.
