Abstract: Let be the -transformation on [0,1) defined by T_eta(x)=eta x ext{ mod }1. We study the Diophantine approximation of the orbit of a point x under . Precisely, for given two positive functions psi1,psi2:mathbbNightarrowmathbbR+, define mathcal{L}(psi_1):=left{xin[0,1]:T_eta^n x<psi_1(n), ext{ for infinitely many ninmathbbN} ight}, mathcal{U}(psi_2):=left{xin [0,1]:forall~Ngg1,~exists~nin[0,N], s.t. T^n_eta x<psi_2(N) ight}, where gg means large enough. We compute the Hausdorff dimension of the set mathcalL(psi1)capmathcalU(psi2). As a corollary, we estimate the Hausdorff dimension of the set mathcalU(psi2).
