Abstract: For a number field F and an odd prime number p, let ildeF be the compositum of all mathbbZp-extensions of F and ildeLambda the associated Iwasawa algebra. Let GS(ildeF) be the Galois group over ildeF of the maximal extension which is unramified outside p-adic and infinite places. In this paper we study the ildeLambda-module mathfrakXS(i)(ildeF):=H1(GS(ildeF),mathbbZp(i)) and its relationship with X(ildeF(mup))(i1)Delta, the Delta:=mathrmGal(ildeF(mup)/ildeF)-invariant of the Galois group over ildeF(mup) of the maximal abelian unramified pro-p-extension of ildeF(mup). More precisely, we show that under a decomposition condition, the pseudo-nullity of the ildeLambda-module X(ildeF(mup))(i1)Delta is implied by the existence of a mathbbZpd-extension L with mathfrakXS(i)(L):=H1(GS(L),mathbbZp(i)) being without torsion over the Iwasawa algebra associated to L, and which contains a mathbbZp-extension Finfty satisfying H2(GS(Finfty),mathbbQp/mathbbZp(i))=0. As a consequence we obtain a sufficient condition for the validity of Greenberg's generalized conjecture when the integer iequiv1mod[F(mup):F]. This existence is fulfilled for (p,i)-regular fields.
