Abstract: We study the action of the multiplicative group generated by two prime numbers in

. More specifically, we study returns to the set

([- Q^{v} a r e p s i l o n, Q^{v} a r e p s i l o n] c a p m a t h b f Z) / Q m a t h b f Z

. This is intimately related to the problem of bounding the greatest common divisor of

-unit differences, which we revisit. Our main tool is the

S

-adic subspace theorem.
