Abstract: Let be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on the Hilbert space . For a positive integer less than the dimension of and , the joint -numerical range is the set of vector such that for an orthonormal set in . Geometrical properties of and their relations with the algebraic properties of are investigated in this paper. For example, conditions for to be convex are studied. Descriptions are given for the closure of and the closure of in terms of the joint essential numerical range of for infinite dimensional operators . Characterizations are obtained for or to be closed. It is shown that is a polyhedral set if and only if have a common reducing subspace of finite dimension such that the compression of on the subspace are diagonal operators and . Similar results are obtained for such that the closure of is polyhedral. Classifications are given for operators satisfying (1) is a commuting family of normal operators, or (2) is polyhedral for every positive integer less than .
