Abstract: Given a root system of type , , , or in Euclidean space , let be the associated Weyl group. For a point not orthogonal to any of the roots in , we consider the -permutohedron , which is the convex hull of the -orbit of . The representation of on the rational cohomology ring of the toric variety associated to (the normal fan to) has been studied by various authors. Let be a complete set of simple reflections in . For , let be the standard parabolic subgroup of generated by . We show that the fixed subring is isomorphic to the cohomology ring of the toric variety associated to a polytope obtained by intersecting with half-spaces bounded by reflecting hyperplanes for the given generators of . By a result of Balibanu--Crooks, the cohomology rings are isomorphic with cohomology rings of certain regular Hessenberg varieties.
