A Comparison Theorem For The Pro-\'etale Fundamental Group

Abstract: In [Bhatt-Scholze, The Pro-'etale Topology for Schemes], B. Bhatt and P. Scholze introduced the notion of the pro-'etale fundamental group for a connected locally topologically Noetherian scheme $X$. This is a topological group that classifies all the geometric covers of $X$. In this paper, we prove that if $X$ is a scheme locally of finite type over $mathbbC$, then the pro-'etale fundamental group of $X$ is the "algebraizable completion" of the topological fundamental group of the associated analytic space $X^{man}$ of $X$.
