Moduli Spaces of Marked Branched Projective Structures on Surfaces

Abstract: We introduce the notion of branching class of a branched complex projective structure on a Riemann surface. This appears naturally when generalizing to the branched case the notion of bundle of projective frames of order 2 of a Riemann surface. We show that the space of branching classes with fixed degree on a given closed surface of genus g is a complex manifold. We show that the space of branched projective structures of degree smaller than $2g-2$ or greater than $4g-4$ is a complex manifold. In the first case, it is an affine bundle over the space of branching classes. In the second case, it is a submanifold of the space of branching classes.
