Abstract: Let p be an odd prime, F be a number field and consider a uniform infinite pro-p extension Finfty of F with Galois group G=Gal(Finfty/F). Let [G=G_0supset G_1supsetdots supset G_nsupset G_{n+1}supset dots] be the descending p central series of G and set Fn:=FinftyGn. Assume that G is uniform and that Finfty contains the cyclotomic mathbbZp-extension of F. Denote by An the p-primary part of the class group of the cyclotomic mathbbZp-extension of Fn. The lambda-invariant of Fn coincides with the corank of An as a mathbbZp-module. Assume that the Iwasawa mu-invariant of the cyclotomic mathbbZp-extension of F equal to 0. Then, the mu-invariant of the cyclotomic mathbbZp-extension of Fn is 0 as well and An is isomorphic to left(mathbbQp/mathbbZpight)lambdan. We study the asymptotic growth of lambdan as n goes to infty.
