Abstract: Let mathcalE be an elliptic curve defined over mathbbQ(t) such that mathcalE(mathbbC(t)), the set of mathbbC(t)-rational points of mathcalE, is a finitely generated abelian group. The splitting field of mathcalE over mathbbQ(t) is the smallest subfield mathcalK of mathbbC for which mathcalE(mathbbC(t))=mathcalE(mathcalK(t)). It is known that mathcalK is a Galois extension of mathbbQ with the finite Galois group G=extrmGal(mathcalK|mathbbQ) such that the G-invariant elements of mathcalE(mathcalK(t)) are the mathcalE(mathbbQ(t))-rational points. In this paper, we will determine the splitting field mathcalKn and find an explicit set of independent generators for the Mordell--Weil group mathcalEn(mathcalKn(t)) of the elliptic K3 surfaces mathcalEn:displaystyley2=x3+tn+1/tn for 1leqnleq6.
