Abstract: A one-variable Hankel matrix Ha is an infinite matrix Ha=[a(i+j)]i,jgeq0. Similarly, for any dgeq2, a d-variable Hankel matrix is defined as Hmathbfa=[mathbfa(mathbfi+mathbfj)], where mathbfi=(i1,dots,id) and mathbfj=(j1,dots,jd), with i1,dots,id,j1,dots,jdgeq0. For gamma>0, A. Pushnitski and D. Yafaev proved that the eigenvalues of the compact one-variable Hankel matrices Ha with a(j)=j1(logj)gamma, for jgeq2, obey the asymptotics lambdan(Ha)simCgammangamma, as no+infty, where the constant Cgamma is calculated explicitly. This paper presents the following d-variable analogue. Let gamma>0 and a(j)=jd(logj)gamma, for jgeq2. If mathbfa(j1,dots,jd)=a(j1+dots+jd), then Hmathbfa is compact and its eigenvalues follow the asymptotics lambdan(Hmathbfa)simCd,gammangamma, as no+infty, where the constant Cd,gamma is calculated explicitly.
