Abstract: Extending the classical result that the roots of a polynomial with coefficients in mathbfC are continuous functions of the coefficients of the polynomial, nonstandard analysis is used to prove that if mathcalF=flambda:lambdainLambda is a set of polynomials in mathbfC[t1,ldots,tn] and if mathcalG=glambda:lambdainLambda is a set of polynomials in mathbfC0[t1,ldots,tn] such that glambda is an infinitesimal deformation of flambda for all lambdainLambda, then the nonstandard affine variety V0(mathcalG) is an infinitesimal deformation of the affine variety V(mathcalF).
