Abstract: We study random walks on metric spaces with contracting elements. We establish sharp deviation inequalities using Gou"ezel's pivotal time construction and Baik-Choi-Kim's pivoting technique. As a result, we obtain sharp rates of geodesic tracking of random walks on spaces including CAT(0) spaces and Outer space. We also revisit CLT and LIL on these spaces under optimal moment conditions.
