Skew-type symplectic/orthogonal Schur functions

Abstract: We introduce and study skew-type symplectic Schur functions and orthogonal Schur functions via vertex operators. This has lead to a natural representation of these Schur symmetric functions in Gelfand-Tsetlin patterns, which can be used to derive their combinatorial formulas. In addition, the vertex operator approach has given several new Cauchy-type identities for the orthogonal and symplectic Schur functions.
