Abstract: The paper deals with the existence of positive solutions with prescribed L2 norm for the Schr"odinger equation -Delta u+lambda u+V(x)u=|u|^{p-2}u,qquad uin H^1_0(Omega),quadint_Omega u^2dx= ho^2,quadlambdainmathbb{R}, where Omega=mathbbRN or mathbbRNsetminusOmega is a compact set, ho>0, Vge0 (also Vequiv0 is allowed), pinleft(2,2+frac4Night). The existence of a positive solution is proved when V verifies a suitable decay assumption (Dho), or if |V|Lq is small, for some qgefracN2 (q>1 if N=2). No smallness assumption on V is required if the decay assumption (Dho) is fulfilled. There are no assumptions on the size of mathbbRNsetminusOmega. The solution is a bound state and no ground state solution exists, up to the autonomous case Vequiv0 and Omega=mathbbRN.
