Abstract: In this paper, we construct a sequence of hyperbolic surfaces with connected geodesic boundary such that the first normalized Steklov eigenvalue ildesigma1 tends to infinity. Let mathcalMg,1(Lg) be the modulus space of hyperbolic surfaces of genus g and connected boundary of length Lg endowed with the Weil-Peterson metric where Lgightarrowinfty satisfies certain condition. We prove that as genus gightarrowinfty, a generic SigmainmathcalMg,1(Lg) satisfies that ildesigma1(Sigma)>CcdotLg where C is a positive universal constant.
