Abstract: In this note we show by implementing the associativity conditions of OPEs in terms of modes that there exist exactly two chiral algebras consisting of one Virasoro operator T(z), one mathfraksl(2,mathbbR) current Ja(z) (for a=0,pm1), and a doublet Gs(z) (for s=pm1/2) of current algebra primaries of dimension 3/2. The simplest of these is the recently uncovered chiral extension of the Poincare algebra mathfrakiso(1,3). The second is a chiral extension of the mathfrakso(2,3). The latter is a novel calW-algebra that is analogous to the famous Bershadsky-Polyakov algebra calW3(2), and is expected to play a role in the AdS/CFT correspondence.
