Remarks on the FPP in Banach spaces with unconditional Schauder basis

Abstract: This paper presents new results on the FPP in Banach spaces with a Schauder basis. We focus on the open problem of determining whether there is a Banach space isomorphic to $co$ with the FPP. We first show that if $X$ is a Banach space with a pre-monotone basic sequence equivalent to the unit basis of $co$, then it fails the FPP for nonexpansive maps. We then highlight sufficient conditions ensuring the existence of such sequences. Several interesting results are obtained. As e.g., it is proved that if $X$ has a $1$-suppression unconditional basis and fails the PCP, then $X$ fails the FPP. In addition, new fixed-point results related to the weak-FPP are also obtained.
