Abstract: Let pin(1,infty), alphainmathbbR, and OmegasubsetneqmathbbRN be a C1,gamma-domain with a compact boundary partialOmega, where gammain(0,1]. Denote by deltaOmega(x) the distance of xinOmega to partialOmega. Let widetildeW01,p;alpha(Omega) be the completion of Ccinfty(Omega) with respect to the norm |varphi|_{widetilde{W}^{1,p;alpha}_0(Omega)}:= left( | , |

abla varphi| , |_{L^p(Omega,delta_{Omega}^{-alpha})}^p +|varphi|_{L^p(Omega,delta_{Omega}^{-(alpha+p)})}^p ight)^{{1}/{p}} . Consider the following two variational constants: H_{alpha,p}(Omega) :=!inf left{int_{Omega} | abla varphi|^p delta_{Omega}^{-alpha} mathrm{d}x iggm| int_{Omega} |varphi|^p delta_{Omega}^{-(alpha+p)} mathrm{d}x!=!1, varphi in widetilde{W}^{1,p;alpha}_0(Omega) ight} ,, lambda_{alpha,p}^{infty}(Omega) :=sup_{KSubset Omega}, inf_{W^{1,p}_{c}(Omegasetminus K)} left{int_{Omegasetminus K} |

abla varphi|^p delta_{Omega}^{-alpha} mathrm{d}x iggm| int_{Omegasetminus K} |varphi|^p delta_{Omega}^{-(alpha+p)} mathrm{d}x=1 ight}. We show that Halpha,p(Omega) is attained if and only if the spectral gap Gammaalpha,p(Omega):=lambdaalpha,pinfty(Omega)−Halpha,p(Omega) is strictly positive. Moreover, we obtain tight decay estimates for the corresponding minimizers. Furthermore, when Omega is bounded and alpha+p=1, then Gamma1−p,pinfty(Omega)=0 and −Delta1−p,p is null-critical in Omega with respect to the weight deltaOmega−1, whereas, if alpha+p<1, then Gammaalpha,pinfty(Omega)=left|fracalpha+p−1pight|p>0 and −Deltaalpha,p is positive-critical in Omega with respect to the weight deltaOmega−(alpha+p).
