Abstract: We study time inhomogeneous Markov branching processes whose reproduction laws belong to a certain parametric family. Using explicit expressions for the probability generating functions we establish transparent limit theorems for branching processes in varying environment. Our results supports the idea of recognizing five asymptotical regimes for branching in varying environment: supercritical, asymptotically degenerate, critical, strictly subcritical, and loosely subcritical.
