Abstract: If a matrix has rank , then its row echelon form (from elimination) contains the identity matrix in its first independent columns. How do we emph{interpret the matrix} that appears in the remaining columns of that echelon form,? multiplies those first independent columns of to give its dependent columns. Then reveals bases for the row space and the nullspace of the original matrix . And is the key to the column-row factorization .
