Abstract: Let M be a metric space and X be a Banach space. In this paper we address several questions about the structure of mathcalF(M)widehatotimespiX. We prove that mathcalF(M)widehatotimespiX has the Daugavet property in the following cases: 1) M is a convex subset with non-empty interior of a finite-dimensional Banach lattice and X is any Banach space. 2) M is a Banach lattice with the metric approximation property and X is any space. 3) X is a Banach lattice with X* having the metric approximation property and M is any length metric space. This constitutes a big progress on the open question [11, Question 1]. We also prove results for the octahedrality of mathcalF(M)widehatotimespiX. For instance, we prove that mathcalF(M)widehatotimespiX is octahedral if M has any cluster point and X is a Banach lattice with X* enjoying the MAP. These results yield in progresses on the question whether mathcalF(M) octahedral implies mathcalF(M)widehatotimespiX octahedral, explicitly posed in [5]. Finally we prove that if operatornameLip(M) is octahedral then operatornameLip(M,X) is octahedral for every Banach space X, which gives a complete solution to [21,Question 1.2].
