Abstract: Let Ln be the simplest cubic field with the Galois group G=mathrmGal(Ln/mathbbQ). The associated order is denoted as mathcalALn/mathbbQ:=xinmathbbQ[G],|,x.mathcalOLnsubsetmathcalOLn, where mathcalOLn is the ring of integers of Ln. Leopoldt showed that mathcalOLnsimeqmathcalALn/mathbbQ as mathcalALn/mathbbQ-modules. In this paper, we give the generator of the mathcalALn/mathbbQ-module mathcalOLn explicitly using the roots of Shanks' cubic polynomial. If Ln/mathbbQ is tamely ramified, then we have mathcalALn/mathbbQ=mathbbZ[G], and the conjugates of the generator is a normal integral basis, which has been obtained explicitly in the previous work of Hashimoto and Aoki.
