Abstract: In this note we present an alternative proof of a theorem of Gunnells, which states that the Steinberg module of $operatornameS{p}_{2n}(mathbbQ)$ is a cyclic $operatornameS{p}_{2n}(mathbbZ)$-module, generated by integral apartment classes.
