Abstract: We note an elementary proof of the existence and uniqueness of a solution %muinmathbbP(X) to the equation mu=pmu0+qhatFmu. Here mathbbX is a topological space, mathbbP(X) is the set of Borel measures of unit mass on mathbbX, mu0in mathbbP(X) is given, p>0, and qgeq0 with p+q=1. The transformation hatF:%mathbbP(X)oP(X) is defined by hatFupsilon=sumlimitsn=1Npnupsiloncircfn1 where fn:mathbb%XoX is continuous, pn>0 for n=1,2,...,N, N is a finite strictly positive integer, and sumlimitsn=1Npn=1. This problem occurs in connection with iterated function systems (IFS).
