Abstract: The subject of Chapter 1 is GKK -matrices and related topics. Chapter 2 is devoted to boundedly invertible collections of matrices, with applications to operator norms and spline approximation. Various structured matrices (Toeplitz, Hessenberg, Hankel, Cauchy, and other) are used extensively throughout the thesis.
Eigenvalues, singular values, and eigenvectors (15A18) Stability of solutions to ordinary differential equations (34D20) Spline approximation (41A15) Toeplitz operators, Hankel operators, Wiener-Hopf operators (47B35) Lyapunov and other classical stabilities (Lagrange, Poisson, (L^p, l^p), etc.) in control theory (93D05)
