Abstract: We investigate the problem of describing the homotopy classes of continuous functions between -bounded non metrizable manifolds . We define a family of surfaces built with the first octant in ( is the longline and the longray), and show that is in bijection with so called `adapted' subsets of a partially ordered set. We also show that can be computed for some surfaces that, unlike , do not contain . This indicates that when are -bounded non metrizable surfaces, there might be a link between and the concept of -directions in X$. Many pictures are used and the proofs are quite detailed.
