Uniruledness of some low-dimensional ball quotients

Abstract: Gritsenko-Hulek showed that some orthogonal Shimura varieties are uniruled. In particular, they have the Kodaira dimension $-infty$. In this paper, we apply the method of Gritsenko-Hulek to unitary Shimura varieties associated with Hermitian forms of signatures $(1,3)$, $(1,4)$ and $(1,5)$, and show that some of them are uniruled. We use the restrictions of strongly reflective modular forms constructed by Yoshikawa and Gritsenko-Hulek. We give examples of Hermitian lattices over the rings of integers of imaginary quadratic fields $mathbbQ(sqrt-1)$ and $mathbbQ(sqrt-2)$ for which the associated unitary Shimura varieties are uniruled.
