Abstract: Let and be nonzero algebraic numbers for some integer and let be the number field. In this article, we classify the tuples such that the sum takes values inside for in a finite set or an infinite set. In another interesting result, we prove that for rational functions with algebraic coefficients, if the sum for infinitely many values of , then via the subspace theorem, we prove that . Our approach generalizes the classical question of sufficient conditions for algebraic integers using trace operators. We also give a different proof of Fatou's Lemma over number fields.
