Abstract: Let gamma:[0,1]ightarrowmathbbS2 be a non-degenerate curve in mathbbR3, that is to say, . For each hetain[0,1], let Vheta=gamma(heta)perp and let piheta:mathbbR3ightarrowVheta be the orthogonal projections. We prove that if AsubsetmathbbR3 is a Borel set, then for a.e. hetain[0,1] we have extdim(piheta(A))=min2,extdimA. More generally, we prove an exceptional set estimate. For AsubsetmathbbR3 and 0lesle2, define Es(A):=hetain[0,1]:extdim(piheta(A))<s. We have extdim(Es(A))le1+sextdim(A). We also prove that if extdim(A)>2, then for a.e. hetain[0,1] we have mathcalH2(piheta(A))>0.
