Abstract: Motivated by the programme on mirror symmetry for non-K"ahler manifolds, we construct representations of the N=2 superconformal vertex algebra associated to solutions of the Hull-Strominger system. The construction is via embeddings of the N=2 superconformal vertex algebra in the chiral de Rham complex of a string Courant algebroid, building on a universal construction by Bressler and Heluani. Our main results depend on two conditions: firstly, on the vanishing of a bivector field canonically associated to a solution, and, secondly, on the connection abla, one of the unknowns of the system, being Hermitian-Yang-Mills. Combined with a previous result by the authors, we show that all the known solutions of the Hull-Strominger system on non-K"ahler Calabi-Yau threefolds satisfying the second condition have an associated N=2 embedding. We also prove a general existence result for these embeddings on compact complex surfaces.
