Abstract: We study the Cauchy problem for the dissipative Benjamin-Ono equations with . When , we show the ill-posedness in , , in the sense that the flow map (if it exists) fails to be at the origin. For , we prove the global well-posedness in , . It turns out that this index is optimal.
