Abstract: We consider a -manifold equipped with nondegenerate contact form and compatible almost complex structure . We show that if the data admits a stable finite energy foliation, then for a generic choice of distinct points , , the manifold formed by taking the connected sum at and admits a nondegenerate contact form and compatible almost complex structure so that the data also admits a stable finite energy foliation. Along the way, we develop some general theory for the study of finite energy foliations.
