Homotopy theory and fundamental groups in algebraic geometry (14F35) Symplectic manifolds (general theory) (53D05) Fundamental group, presentations, free differential calculus (57M05) Symplectic and contact topology in high or arbitrary dimension (57R17) Specialized structures on manifolds (spin manifolds, framed manifolds, etc.) (57R15)
Abstract: We describe all abelian groups which can appear as the fundamental groups of closed symplectically aspherical manifolds. The proofs use the theory of symplectic Lefschetz fibrations.
