Abstract: Let $overlinep(n)$ denote the overpartition funtion. Engel showed that for $ngeq2$, $overlinep(n)$ satisfied the Tur'{a}n inequalities, that is, $overlinep(n{)}^2-overlinep(n-1)overlinep(n+1)>0$ for $ngeq2$. In this paper, we prove several inequalities for $overlinep(n)$. Moreover, motivated by the work of Chen, Jia and Wang, we find that the higher order Tur'{a}n inequalities of $overlinep(n)$ can also be determined.
