Abstract: Let overlinep(n) denote the overpartition funtion. Engel showed that for ngeq2, overlinep(n) satisfied the Tur'{a}n inequalities, that is, overlinep(n)2overlinep(n1)overlinep(n+1)>0 for ngeq2. In this paper, we prove several inequalities for overlinep(n). Moreover, motivated by the work of Chen, Jia and Wang, we find that the higher order Tur'{a}n inequalities of overlinep(n) can also be determined.
